As Goats Prepare to Leave, Sendoff Planned For Wednesday

The Riverside Park goats were leaf-chomping champions this summer, clearing a hill between 119th and 125th Street. But their city sojourn is about to end, and the parks conservancy is planning a sendoff before the animals return to Green Goats farm in Rhinebeck, New York.

On Wednesday from 12-4, the few remaining goats will receive a rousing ovation at 120th Street and Riverside Drive. Human attendees may receive event-themed pencils, the conservancy says.

Luckily, the conservancy is already hoping to invite them back next summer.

Below see a nice drawing of the four remaining goats:

Goats were brought to the city for a few months as @RiversideParkNY #goatham initiative. They were 25 to start; these are the final 4. All will go back to the farm this week. Highlight of my summer 🥰

How are they taken from the farm to the park? On a truck? I hope they are handled compassionately.
