A man was stabbed Thursday evening in front of John Jay College on West 59th Street, a police spokesperson told West Side Rag.

A 28-year-old man was stabbed in the back around 7:15 p.m. outside of 524 West 59th Street, which is two avenues west of Columbus Circle, police said.

The victim was rushed to the nearby Mount Sinai West with non-life threatening injuries, NYPD added. As of Friday, police did not have any information on what led up to the stabbing, but the spokesperson said officers were going through video cameras surrounding the area.

There have been no arrests.

The stabbing on Thursday on West 59th Street comes five days after a man was robbed at knifepoint on Broadway and West 60th Street. Police did not provide any information about the two incidents possibly being connected.

WSR will update this story if we learn more.

Obviously these people should not be released to the street any time soon if they are ever caught. My fear is that there is a sickness going around where otherwise decent humans feel more sympathy for the perpetrators rather than the victims.

Yes, those “Progressives” who seem to value dismantling the carceral state above the safety of the public.

Thankfully, our beloved monarch is busy even now securing giant warehouses around the nation in which to incarcerate dangerous undesirables (e.g., Karen Newton) in vast numbers. Aren’t we fortunate to live in such times!

You’ve just proven Neighbor785’s point about how absurd the ultra-left’s stance on empathy for criminals is. Even your hyperbole falls flat

Identify the alleged hyperbole.
Incidentally, I’ll let the ultra-left speak for themselves.

You are sympathetic to the guy who knifed the other guy? You want violent criminals to be at large, free to attack other people?

FYI: No and no, but thanks for asking. You and “D M” exhibit a genuine gift for misinterpretation.

No, what you fear is being randomly attacked – which is sensible enough. What is not sensible is projecting that fear on some other unseen enemy, which you have been conditioned to conceive of as some shadowy figure that has empathy for people.

Poetic. Suicidal empathy. You make me want to live in Poland or Hungary.

At least the victim will have no problem finding a lawyer.

Stabbing someone in the back is a special kind of cowardice. I’m so sorry this happened and I hope the person that was hurt will soon recover, and that the person who hurt them will be found and held to account. Oy.

Jo wase,

They’d have to be alert, and looking at the street.

Much more important, good hi resolution video recorded with a camera good in low light.

It was obviously a colleague who did the deed.

What kind of nonsense are you posting? There is nothing obvious about who did this, no one knows who it is.

Did the victim vote for Mamdani. I think that’s relevant now. I would like the rest of the commentators to weigh in

I wonder if there has been any thought given to using forensic social workers to help find this poor confused perpetrator and get him the help he needs. He must people deeply troubled and unhappy to undertake such an act. Perhaps we should start a “go fund me” to help find him and get him the long overdue assistance he is in need of.

It’s amazing the lengths people will go to deny that the crime concentrated in this area is connected to the massive housing project there.

It’s nowhere near any housing projects.

I wonder if there is a database somewhere that shows crime place of occurance that crossrefernces the convicted perps home address with age and race. It won’t be perfect due to unsolved, unreported and dropped charges but it just might line up with common sense.
