Public school ended on Wednesday, and just like clockwork the city’s outdoor pools will open on Thursday. That includes Lasker Pool, which is at the north end of Central Park, around 106th Street.

Lasker is open for general swimming and frolicking from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a break for cleaning from 3 to 4.

Lasker also has lap swimming times in the early morning and evening starting on July 5. You can sign up here.

And the city is offering free classes and lessons:

NYC Parks offers FREE Learn to Swim lessons at outdoor pools throughout the City. Registration is run by an online lottery hosted on the Parks website. In addition to swimming lessons, Parks hosts water aerobics, senior splash, lap swimming programs, adaptive aquatics, and more – all for free. For a full list of offerings, check out our Citywide Aquatics page.

Please limit comments to 150 words and keep them civil and relevant to the article at hand. Comments are closed after six days. Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate. A detailed statement on comments and WSR policy can be read here.
