Police Look for Suspect in Morning Robbery in Central Park

Police say that a 67-year-old man was robbed while sitting on a bench in Central Park on Friday morning. The police description is below:

“It was reported to police that on Friday, May 31, 2019 at approximately 1015 hours, in the vicinity of Olmsted Way and West Drive, a 67-year-old male victim was sitting on bench when he was approached by an unidentified male. The male proceeded to punch and shove the victim who subsequently fled the location. The victim, fearing for his safety, left behind his belongings and the male fled the location with the victim’s tote bag containing his iPhone. The victim was not injured as a result of this incident.

The person wanted for questioning is described as a male Black in his late teens or early twenties; last seen wearing a powder blue hooded shirt.

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of the male is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM, on Twitter @NYPDTips.
