Broadway actor Harlan Bengel was found dead on Friday, apparently after hanging himself from the Winterdale Arch near 82nd Street. On Sunday morning, someone placed a candle and a bouquet of flowers under the arch. “It’s pouring rain out,” wrote Pam Yoder, who sent in the photos. “It was here and the candle lit by 7 a.m.”

Bengel appeared in shows like “War Horse” and “The Phantom of the Opera”, according to the Post. “Bengel has performed with the San Francisco Ballet, Metropolitan Opera Ballet and Tulsa Ballet,” Broadway World reported.

Please, if you are thinking about harming yourself or attempting suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
