News:
A husky named Rikku alerted his owners to a fire in their building on 76th Street early Friday as it spread through the building. “Engaged couple Quinn Demarest and Monica Molina were sound asleep in their first-floor apartment when their beloved dog came into the bedroom to wake them up and alert them to the inferno.” They ran through the building alerting others, but when they came back they were not able to get Rikku out in time. Eight people were injured in the fire.
Local Congressman Jerry Nadler is stepping into the spotlight as he sends inquiries to 81 people and entities tied to President Trump.
The man arrested for a home invasion on Jan. 31 says he’s innocent. “Daniel Omolukun, 30, who refused to come out of his jail cell for his arraignment Thursday, babbled to police about how he was in the W. 78th St. apartment on Jan. 31 to collect money for a man he was indebted to — but ‘didn’t tie them up.'”
A suspect was arrested in a stabbing on West 93rd last week. “Carlos Hernandez, 25, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of assault to cause serious injury, police said.”
And for people who have the same question Holden Caulfield did all those years ago:
Ever wonder where the ducks, turtles, and other wildlife in Central Park go in the winter? We have the answers: https://t.co/pNXndB6dMp pic.twitter.com/s58qUlAXHB

Whatever happened to the stabbing at 710 West End in the fall? Has the suspect been to court yet?
We are following that case closely and will have an update in the coming weeks.
Sympathies to the couple that lost their dog. What a heroic boy.
It’s good to know that while I have to worry about more stabbings on West 93rd Street and other street crimes in the neighborhood, my fellow UWS-sider, Congressman Jerry Nadler, spends time on ONE issue only: impeach D. Trump. Shame on you for ignoring completely local issues in your district, Jerry Nadler!
Ben David, Please take your head out of your sphincter and read the crime statistics for the UWS. https://www1.nyc.gov/assets/nypd/downloads/pdf/crime_statistics/cs-en-us-024pct.pdf
You must be a very important person to have access to Congressman Nadler’s to-do list and are able to monitor his staff’s assignments. It must be wonderful to be so sure that he is only working on one thing. Since his early days in the NY State Assembly, from the late ’70s through the early 90s, he has been one of the hardest-working and most effective representatives of his local constituents. But you wouldn’t know about that, or care to.
Ironically, and much to Nadler’s chagrin, he might become the person most responsible for Trump’s re-election in 2020
Benny really believes that exposing Trump’s many many crimes, including financial crimes, is going to help Trump get re-elected?
Or perhaps he believes Trump that there is no “there” there. It’s all a circus sideshow?
I personally wonder why anyone would believe Trump on anything these days. Haven’t you noticed that he says whatever is in his mind at that instant, without any care whatsoever for truth or facts?
You sure you’re not talking about Hillary?
Yes Ben David, thank you for your comment also. TDS is a real thing. Shouldn’t Nadler be coordinating with Mueller if he is indeed truly sincere? Asking for a friend
@Tim,
you don’t understand the various jurisdictions and roles. Nadler is NOT ALLOWED to coordinate with Mueller. Mueller is an INDEPENDENT prosecutor.
The Judiciary Committee has its own areas of authority and responsibility. You can rest assured Nadler knows well what those are.
I really wish the Nadler critics — there are many on this blog, but actually a very small percentage on the UWS — would take the time to understand how Congress works.
Thank you for your comment. Don’t let the haters silence you.
Ben David, your comments are always just anti-Democratic ones. You find a way to make every issue about the same damn thing. Yawn.
Please don’t speak for all the Dems. I’m a democrat but in this particular case I’m with Ben David.
So so sad to hear that Rikku died in the fire. That’s too awful to even think about . . . Many condolences & reminder to all that pets need to be helped out of a fire as well as the people.
