Tavern on the Green will hold its annual Christmas Tree lighting on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the restaurant on 67th Street just inside Central Park. The 20-foot tree will have 2,000 ornaments, and more than 10,000 lights will be strung around the building. There’s more too.

“Festivities include mulled cider and hot chocolate, Tavern’s signature cookies and donuts, live holiday music, and carol singing from LaGuardia High School. Students from West Side Campaign Against Hunger’s Chef Training Program will also be onsite to share samples of food they prepared and help raise awareness of the fight to end hunger. They will also be accepting food donations.”

Please limit comments to 150 words and keep them civil and relevant to the article at hand. Comments are closed after six days. Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate. Can you leave more details about the food donation? Non-perishables?
