This weekend is chock full of local events, several of which are on our calendar. But see below for more details on three unique ones.

The New York Classical Players is putting on its first local concert of the season on Saturday at 8 p.m. at Redeemer Church, 150 West 83rd Street. It’s free, like all of the group’s concerts. “Flutist Jasmine Choi – recently a soloist at the Mostly Mozart Festival and internationally-recognized as one of the top 10 flutists in history (Sinfoni Magazine) – is the performance’s guest artist, and NYCP is performing works by Grieg, Sarasate, Bartok, and Clint Needham. The performance is completely free, and you can reserve your free spot here.”

The Global Citizen Festival, a big concert and social activism fest on the Great Lawn in Central Park around 83rd Street, featuring Janet Jackson, Cardi B, The Weeknd and more, is also on Saturday. The concert website is vague about when the music starts, saying only that the doors open at 2 p.m. VIP tickets are for sale or you can “earn” them through social activism through an app.

And if you’re up for stargazing, telescopes will be in place at Lincoln Center:

Calling all NYC #stargazers! Join the @AAAdotORG around the Revson Fountain TONIGHT for its final Lincoln Center gathering of the season. Skies will be clear w/ Saturn, Mars & the Moon on display. For more info >> https://t.co/hbXeK5Tf4R 📷: Faissal Halim & Carey Horwitz pic.twitter.com/iyFIm2MeIE

Thanks, WSR for the tip. Went to see Jasmine Choi and loved the concert. She’s going to be a superstar!
