At 12:17 p.m. on Thursday a man wearing what looks like an orange construction helmet and a curly-haired wig robbed the Santander Bank at 2275 Broadway (at 82nd Street), police said.
Officers say the man passed a note to tellers and displayed an unknown object. He fled the scene with an unknown amount of cash. He was believed to be wearing a grey sweatshirt, orange construction vest and grey pants.
As of 2:30 p.m. Thursday the branch remained closed to customers.
I’ll bet anything that the apprehend this perp.
Nah, this guy picked this place, knowing very well that there is a HUGE construction site right down the street at 81st. This guy exited and most likely headed south to blend in with the rest of them. Obviously he has a wig on and his face is well covered. Bring in Kojak!
Dannyboy, your comments never cease to be enlightening.
Then here’s more: He should have chosen a mask.
Not super surprising. The church breakfast near that block attracts all sorts of drugged out, desperate people. (Peacefood cafe broken window / fight last month, anyone?) I have seen a man expose himself while relieving himself in front of the SCHOOL on that block multiple times. Baffles the mind why people put up with this. And the church is complicit. Who knows what will happen next. It won’t be good.
Man, you sure are scared of poor people. How dare they exist–and on the Upper West Side, no less!!!
What the church is complicit with?
How dare a church try to feed hungry people! Shame!
wow… blaming a bank robbery on a church breakfast… that’s a new one…
He should be collared for being ugly.
I think I saw this skit on Telemundo.
That stolen money
can go a long way to get
a nice makeover.
A haiku
It is rather rare
to see an orange nipple
atop a man’s head.
Another haiku
I think the Devo casting call is 1 block south
In this day and age how is this so easy? For goodness sake surely banks have better security than to let this joker pull this off. Ridiculous.
Construction workers gotta eat too
DR approach?
How long before the 20th precinct captain claims that the bank’s lack of security invites this type of behavior. To be followed by people who refuse to do business with Santander until they do more to make them feel safe.
I agree Woody. Victim blaming is ridiculous. And suggestions to boycott an entity because they get victimized is just insane. Crime is inevitable unfortunately. Stiffer penalties for criminals would be my suggestion. There’s not enough deterence nowadays, people have gotten soft re complaints of “mass incarcenation”, etc. I say lock them up!
Woody, your comment wins the prize for the funniest! Well timed!
“He” looks like a “she” to me.
Slash is a person of interest.
Is this a joke?
Is this for real?
