Get ready! Winter’s Eve is this Monday, November 27 from 5:30 to 9:00 pm.
The Winter’s Eve festival begins at 5:30 in Dante Park at Broadway & 63rd with the Upper West Side’s only Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. The ceremony will feature Micky Dolenz of The Monkees, Lea Salonga from Broadway’s Once On This Island, The Metropolitan Opera, & WABC-TV. The festivities continue all evening throughout Lincoln Square from Time Warner Center to 68th Street with over 20 free, live music & dance performances, street theatre, family fun, & food tastings.
At the Dante Park main stage, enjoy Ikebe Shakedown & Alicia Svigals’ Klezmer Fiddle Express, & at the Richard Tucker Park stage, Citigrass & The National Reserve. At the TD Bank Dance Tent—now at 62nd & Columbus Ave.—you can dance all night with the Café Wha? House Band. The American Folk Art Museum, Winter’s Eve’s official jazz spot, will feature the Charenée Wade Quartet with Brianna Thomas. And, at Time Warner Center, enjoy Shenel Johns from Jazz at Lincoln Center & LaGuardia High School Show Choir.
Also at Time Warner Center, performances from Broadway’s Wicked & frosty folly from Jack Frost. At Kids’ Central at Raymour & Flanigan, the energetic Tim Kubart & the Space Cadets will play kiddie music alongside activities & arts & crafts. There will also be circus performers, PBS Characters at Tisch WNET Studios, & more.
Of course, don’t miss sweet & savory bites from the Winter’s Eve Food Tastings from over 30 favorite Lincoln Square restaurants at nominal cost ($1-$4). The Food Tastings portion of the event takes place at three outdoor locations: Time Warner Center, on Broadway between 62nd & 64th Streets, & at Richard Tucker Park. Citymeals on Wheels is this year’s official charitable partner.
