The New York City Triathlon will come through the neighborhood on Sunday, and several streets will be shut down while athletes compete. See here for the course route and below for street closures. The route will also run through Central Park. And read a column on how one local athlete prepares for the triathlon.

I have not seen any signs in the area except some generic No Parking signs on 72nd Street.
Do not understand lack of notice?
In the past, the police did not allow traffic north-south at 72nd Street (forced traffic to go to the East Side)
So there was no bus service.
Is that happening again? No bus service?
What are folks supposed to do who need to use the MTA bus? Or Bolt or Megabus going north or southbound?
Or Access a Ride?
Etc.
And the West Side Highway is closed northbound 57th St to HH Bridge?
And at the same time, on the West Side, Broadway 47-57th is supposed to be closed?
Don’t understand how NYC residents are essentially denied basic bus public transportation – for this stuff?
Maybe the triathalon should be held in Scarsdale or East Hampton – and close those streets and roadways.
Exactly my feeling! All of us, New Yorkers, are beleaguered daily by an incredibly inefficient mass transport system, and then they add these idiotic sporting pseudo-events right in the middle of the city, while the whole state offers ample space to do that.
The world is NOT ending.
The MTA ‘info’ page LISTS THE SERVICE CHANGES FOR EACH AFFECTED ROUTE.
