PHOTOS: TRIATHLETES SPEED THROUGH CENTRAL PARK IN THEIR UNDERWEAR

July 15, 2017 | 9:41 PM

Hundreds of triathletes prepared for Sunday’s big race by running 1.7 miles through Central Park on Friday — in their underwear. Some got creative with their costumes, some just stripped and ran.

When in New York… Lead a race with the letter Y on you, in your undies 😂😳😝 #nyctri #underwearrun #whynot

July 15 2017 ::: 196 Brave runners at the Gildan Underwear Run at Central Park. The 1.7-mile Underwear Run is a New York City classic that takes place annually the Friday before the NYC Triathlon. About 500 runners show up each year in their best undies, and undies costumes, to participate. Central Park goers, tourists, and passersby are often confused, amused, and entertained by this NYC experience, and such is the City's unique character. Next time let us know in advance! I would have loved to have been there. (actually saw it once before but had no idea it was tied into the triathlon). N.B. folks, tomorrow afternoon Riverside Park (and bike/walk path by water) will be closed from 70th street northward.

Clearly, this event is primarily for straight people as no self-respecting gay man would be caught dead running in public with the amount of body fat and lack of muscle tone displayed by the people in these pictures.

In a saner time and place (perhaps no more than forty-fifty years ago right here on the UWS), such luridly clad individuals would be arrested for public indecency.

Enjoy it while you can, “progressives” and be careful what you wish for. For, if your favored immigration policies continue, it won’t be long before such libertine spectacles become but a memory…

Re: “if your favored immigration policies continue, it won’t be long before such libertine spectacles become but a memory…”

Although the words “Shariah Law” do NOT appear in your msg., it is easy to surmise that it is “a dog whistle”…a message that can be heard ONLY by those attuned to certain biases and prejudices…i.e. anti-Muslim beliefs.

But, Sir or Madam, you are QUITE LATE TO THE PARTY. In the 19th Century the “Nativists” (look-it-up) vilified Catholics, accusing them of trying to bring “Papacy” to the U.S. In fact, Al Smith, an Irish-Catholic from NYC and a four-term governor of New York State LOST his 1928 bid for the presidency partly because of wide-spread anti-Catholic bias.

And THEN there’s the U.S. Constitution, whose FIRST AMENDMENT clearly states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,” AND “or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”.

And, finally: Google the phrase “sharia law fear mongering”…you’ll learn a lot …IF you’re willing to challenge your pet beliefs.

Of course….Sharia Law is almost here. Better go to the dry cleaner and pick up my wife’s burkas.

Let’s try to get a grip. This is NYC…if you want Puritan values you don’t have to look further than our own southern states and the so-called Bible Belt. But by all means, continue to cloud and confuse the real issues.

Also, isn’t it kind of rich for a Progressive to talk about “Puritans”? Who is it who has ever-increasingly been policing speech and even /thought*/, reinventing the language and dictating what constitutes acceptable usage thereof? Who is it who has now made use of the “wrong” pronouns punishable by Law?

*The entire category of “hate crimes”, for example, is effectively nothing more than the criminalization of /thought/ and speech.

Wow – you almost got confused there and forgot to accuse us of censorship!

I was actually thinking, “Ew – why?” when I first saw this, but your comments make it clear why. To make clear that people like you are not running this show.

You don’t have to watch.

It’s amusing to watch you denigrate the Left for puritanical behavior while promoting puritanical behavior.
Like humor, self-reflection and awareness of irony are in short supply among the Right.

This is NYC…

Oh, right, I forgot. Why, there’s something magic about the soil here (or is it the air or the water, perhaps?) that somehow causes all who arrive — no matter how foreign or hostile their native culture and beliefs may be, to simply shed them in favor of values, sensibilities and mores that are not merely Western or even just liberal or progressive, per se but the kind of over-the-top excesses on display here– to fully favor and embrace those. Right.

if you want Puritan values you don’t have to look further than our own southern states and the so-called Bible Belt.

So the entire U.S., say seventy years ago (at most), was nothing more than a nation of backward, “Puritan” philistines?

Wow! You are really something. I’ll give you that.:)

Man, I would love to debate you in a public forum, in person, and expose you for the sad, scared and angry person that you are. I actually feel sorry for you.

YES, this is NYC, we don’t judge people here by their religion or nationality or race, etc. and quite honestly we are getting pretty sick and tired of people like you who want to bring your antiquated and fearful worldviews to our great city. The greatest, most diverse and most welcoming city in the world!

The only thing that is not welcome here is your judgement and fear of those who are different. We don’t need toxic, hateful elitists imposing their religion on others. Islam, Christianity OR Judaism.

That’s one of the things I enjoy when you and I mix it up a little, Bruce. It’s always about substantive disagreements on issues and policies, etc. not based in bias or bigotry.

There isn’t room for that in any real debate between serious people. Some folks just don’t like other folks and I guess that is their right but that doesn’t make it a persuasive argument. In fact, it usually just exposes the person for what they really are.

Anyway, UWSHebrew…what about that freedom that you guys are always screaming about?? U.S.A…U.S.A.!!! This is the USA right? don’t these folks get freedom too? They aren’t breaking any laws, are they?

Or are people free until it offends some old dude like you? Freedom isn’t just for stuff you like and/or agree with.

This is basic America stuff here. America 101. Did you not take civics or political science or whatever they call it these days. Home of the free, land of the brave…remember that? Try not being so delicate or maybe we can find a nice safe space for you so you won’t be so offended.:)

I, for one, have never so much as suggested– much less “championed”— the President as being anything close to an exemplar of virtue or personal character. Quite the contrary, in fact. I have been clear all along about being quite uncomfortable with the President in those areas (others as well). If only there had been a candidate who, besides being sufficiently in-line with my own positions to allow me to support and vote for him or her, would have /also/ had the personal integrity of, say, a C.S. Lewis or even a Jeff Sessions. Alas, there was no such candidate to support in this past Presidential election, or at least not one who stood a chance of winning.

Furthermore, anyone who finds Hillary Rodham-Clinton, on-balance, to be of superior moral character or to possess greater personal integrity than the President is either, (a) woefully naive, (b) woefully partisan and biased, or (c) both of the above.

In writing all of the above, I know that I speak, as well, for many other supporters of the President.

Stay strong, UWS Hebrew.

Don’t allow yourself to be intimidated or discouraged by the piling-on, in typical herd-like fashion, from the usual smug, virtue-signaling SJW/ Cultural Marxist scolds. Their honks and screeches, ever shrill, ring hollow.

P.S. A belated response to your comments from a while back where you said that you planned to move from the UWS:

While I would only want you to do what is best for you, I would miss having you as a neighbor if you were to leave. Even if we have never met (and even though we obviously have some not-insignificant differences), I have taken comfort in both your presence here on WSR as well as in the knowledge of your presence in the neighborhood.

You had written that you were looking to stay within Manhattan. I had wanted to question whether you actually had to remain within Manhattan, as one find much better value outside of Manhattan, including in any of the other four boroughs. (It’s not just the costs of real estate that are much lower but those of just about everything else as well.)

I would also like to second the others who, for your own safety, had cautioned you against confronting strangers in the manner (verbally) that you had described doing. Always ask yourself: Is it really worth the (all-too real) risk of escalation and what that could lead-to?

Thank you Independent. I’m looking to stay in Manhattan, just about anywhere is fine. Notice how some on here bring up the COMMENTS degrading women by Trump. They dismiss the allegations brought by women on Bill Clinton of rape however (I guess rape is fine if you’re a Democrat). Not to mention his defiling of the Oval Office with a 22 year old multiple times. BTW I’m not a Republican, but the way this country is going with the bombardments of insane SJW issues, anti-Russian agitation (did you see the 60 minutes piece where a military commander was casually discussing dropping a Hydrogen bomb on Russian forces?), radical Muslim infiltration into the mainstream and being welcomed by the left (Jewish organizations included, like The Workmen’s Circle and Linda Sarsour), and constant attacks on straight white Christian males, I believe the only hope to save this country from turning into France, Germany, or England, is for Republicans to win. The “Left” have gone completely off the deep end, and seem to want to (like Obama), “significantly change this country”. Thank heaven a USA loving patriot like Trump was elected, instead of that self-serving, utterly corrupt HRC who had the tact to call Putin “Hitler”. Trump 2020.

I’m gonna pray for both of you tonight….and all those white Christian males who are being constantly attacked. Seriously, I don’t know if I’m going to be able to sleep tonight worrying about them.

Oh, and by the way, pointing out and objecting to discriminatory and offensive nonsense is not “policing speech and even thought”. So now anyone who disagrees with you guys is policing you and therefore infringing on your freedoms? How convenient. My kids, when they were toddlers, had more maturity than that.

But I digress…I’m kinda glad you two found each other and have this nice little right wing bromance. It’s cute. I like it. It kinda makes me smile. That is until I start thinking about those poor oppressed white Christian males and I start to get depressed again. Seriously, what are we going to do? This is a crisis that really needs to be addressed ASAP. Maybe we should organize one of those Go Fund Me pages to raise money or something. I know it’s not a lot but if we could help one guy with his country club membership fees or his kids private school tuition it would all be worth it.

1.) Here, again, in case you missed them, are the links I had included in my post of July 17, 7:45 PM:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2016/05/17/you-can-be-fined-for-not-calling-people-ze-or-hir-if-thats-the-pronoun-they-demand-that-you-use/

http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/civil-rights/301661-this-canadian-prof-defied-sjw-on-gender-pronouns-and-has-a

Addressed therein are cases, in Canada as well as right here in New York, where Cult-Marx/ Social Justice Warrior radicals successfully legislated compulsory compliance with the linguistic innovations and language codes that they have invented. That is much more than merely “pointing out and objecting”. There are plenty more examples I could cite.

Perhaps some here will recall when the individual who posted comments under the handle “Webot” posted the link to a piece called
Not a Very P.C. Thing to Say by that extreme right-winger Jonathan Chait, in that organ of the far-right that calls itself New York magazine. Here is another piece, also apropos here, from the same publication.

2.)

[…]country club membership fees or his kids private school tuition[…]

You ought to go to White Appalachia, which is perhaps the poorest region of the country, and see how the people there like your smug, ignorant comments. Or the so-called “Rust Belt”. Or any number of other White and decidedly less-than-affluent parts of the country. Life expectancy as well as a number of quality-of-life indicators have decreased and gotten worsened for Whites over recent years.
