BOMB SQUAD CALLED AFTER GRENADE FOUND IN GOODWILL DONATION

May 20, 2017 | 4:14 PM
in NEWS
12

The NYPD bomb squad was called to the Goodwill store at 157 West 72nd Street around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday after a worker found a grenade and several rounds of what looked like training ammunition for an AK-47-type gun, according to Helen Miller, who was on the scene.

The bomb squad examined the items and found that the grenade was an inert training device and none of the ammo was live, according to Miller, who took these photos.

This is not the first time a grenade has set off a major police alert on the UWS.

Oh yes, I have lots of compassion for the man who killed the 18 year old woman in Times Square two days ago. Tons. I want psychotics locked up. Thanks for being hyperbolic and telling me “as a Jew”, what I should believe. I know what you are.

Are you suggesting that the incidence of psychosis is higher in NYC than in other places?

This reads as a very anti-semitic comment. I can’t believe West Side Rag allowed it to post or at least hasn’t removed it yet.

I’m sorry…I refuse to have any compassion for the Times Square driver who killed an innocent 18 year old girl. Don’t be ridiculous.

Are bags always left outside of the Goodwill store like this or were they taken out of the store to do a search?

When the store was evacuated by the police, the store continued to receive donations outside of the store until the store was reopened by the police.

Maybe we can be glad that these
potential weapons were actually
harmless, and that nobody was injured.
Our NYPD bomb squad does a dangerous
job and we should thank them for
risking life and limb to protect us.

The bags outside remind me that
we might also appreciate how many
people are donating actual useful
goods, rather than filling the
garbage landfills with things that
can be usefully recycled.
Someone who is mentally
impaired needs help, and our
society does not provide enough.
Rich people who don’t recycle
are just careless or lazy.
Ethnic insults display ignorance.

And yes, there is more psychosis
in NYC – or haven’t you been
watching the Ghostbuster movies.
