Silver Stars Fitness is a fitness company that specializes in working with men and women who are over the age of 50. We like to say they’re the “baby boomer & beyond” population.
The first step to beginning our program is the much talked-about Silver Stars consultation. The consultation that our clients say is the “most comprehensive fitness consultation they have ever experienced.”
During the consultation, not only do we discuss your goals, activity level, hobbies and health history, we will give you tips on how to protect your back or simply give you information that will improve your quality of life, in addition to assessing your posture, balance, flexibility and mobility, core/overall strength and ability to do life’s tasks. We then put all the information together and come up with the best plan for you.
After the consultation, a good majority of our prospective clients end up enrolling in our personal training program more than any of our other services. This makes the most sense, especially if you haven’t exercised for a long time and want to be put on the right path, or if you have been exercising, but are not getting the most out of the program.
Our personal training program is designed to incorporate the key aspects of fitness that are most important as we get older.
We incorporate dynamic and static balance work, flexibility and mobility training to loosen up around the joints that are meant to be mobile, core training/ preventative training, overall strength, power, which is your ability to continue to do life’s tasks at a fast pace like walking, running or getting up from a chair quickly and of course agility and reaction time. We will also give you tips on how to move and lift and maintain good posture outside of the gym, which is equally important to what you’re doing in the gym.
So as you can tell this program covers everything that helps to improve quality of life, in addition to looking better. Most people will only focus on one or two of those aspects, which is better than not doing anything, but not the most efficient way to improving your overall quality of life. Personal training is available at our west 55th location seven days a week and our West 72nd street location on the weekends.
West 72nd street Yoga and Tai Chi class schedule is Sat @ 11 yoga, 12:10 Tai Chi and Yoga on Sunday’s @ 12. All classes are small groups with a maximum of seven people.
