PASSENGERS BAND TOGETHER TO ERASE SWASTIKAS AND HATE SPEECH ON THE 1 TRAIN

February 5, 2017 | 9:24 AM

Screen Shot 2017-02-05 at 9.15.58 AM

Gregory Locke was on the 1 train at 72nd Street on Saturday night when he noticed that every advertisement and window had swastikas on them. He explained on Facebook what happened next.

I got on the subway in Manhattan tonight and found a Swastika on every advertisement and every window. The train was silent as everyone stared at each other, uncomfortable and unsure what to do.

One guy got up and said, “Hand sanitizer gets rid of Sharpie. We need alcohol.” He found some tissues and got to work.

I’ve never seen so many people simultaneously reach into their bags and pockets looking for tissues and Purel. Within about two minutes, all the Nazi symbolism was gone.

Nazi symbolism. On a public train. In New York City. In 2017.

“I guess this is Trump’s America,” said one passenger. No sir, it’s not. Not tonight and not ever. Not as long as stubborn New Yorkers have anything to say about it.

Swastikas were around long before Trump even thought to build a building.
Blaming it on Trump is the same as equating Trump to Hitler.
You let Hitler off the hook.Naming everything on the new administration.
I did not vote GOP, nor would I in the next election, but folks, get real.
Anti Jewish feelings are around for thousands of years, and idiots even longer.
Letys keep our wits and stop bl

Anyone who believes Trump supporters are running around defacing property in NYC with Nazi symbolism is embarrassingly gullible. This would be akin to finding a phone number scrawled on a bathroom stall door with the message “for a good time call Donald” — and believing Trump is responsible. It’s obvious that Manhattan liberals are being hoaxed by one of their own; a common occurrence across the country.

Again, Trump’s rhetoric is provoking people to act in very harmful ways!

This is New York, not “Trump’s America.”

And I’d argue that New York is the home and workplace of Trump, and that “Trump’s America” is an agglomeration of those who hate others. And that “Trump’s America” does not include all those who voted for Trump.

Message: DON’T BE PART OF “TRUMP’S AMERICA.” Be a New Yorker.

Amazing that you can post about GENEROSITY OF SPIRIT and then seconds later demand we stop a church from allowing refugees to use it. Maybe look up generosity and look in the mirror.

Great you do know it is, and has been a Federal Crime (Felony)to know of and/or aid an illegal alien in this country. All Trump is doing is enforcing existing law. The same law that Obama used to deport people.

If you don’t like a Federal Law get congress to change it. Oh yes and these immigration laws have been held repeatedly to be constitutional and Obamas last att general, Lynch on Feb 16 said “Under 8 U.S.C. § 1373Today, the DOJ notified local and state law enforcement agencies across America that they will no longer be eligible for federal grants unless they certify under oath that their local or state laws do not interfere “in any way” with requests for immigration information from federal authorities.”

Until Trump decided it was so important to him, illegal immigrants and refugees was far from the biggest problem facing this country. And limiting their entry will not help “make America great again.” I wish we could move on to solving the country’s real problems.

You seem to be remarkably confused.
The issue isn’t immigration laws. It’s the Executive Order that was signed by Trump that the courts have, so far, deemed to be unconstitutional.
Try to keep up.

good lord. Refugees aren’t illegal or undocumented immigrants. They’re extensively vetted and in many cases, they risked their lives to help US troops overseas. To many of us, helping refugees is both a moral imperative and a plus for our community.

Immigration is a plus for the economy too. Without it, places wither and die.

Its not “Trumps America”
Several of these incidents have been found to be done by any Trump people. They put Trumps name up with swastikas, to say HE is a Nazi, not doing something anti semitic.

There have been at least one person on the UWS that is mentally unstably that is doing most of these writings. He is known to NYPD and they have tried to get him the metal help he needs. It is not hate crime, or a regular crime other than vandalism. He/they are not Trump supporters and or connected to him.
This was announced publicly by NYPD at the last 2 monthly meetings.

Sounds like the work of an Alinskyite “antifa” rioter rather than a Trump supporter. False flags and violent provocation are their calling cards. Sadly for them we know their game by now, so no one is fooled.

You’re looking at anti-semtic hate speech and your instinct is immediately to blame the Jews for sparking it to make someone else look bad? No, no anti-semitism among Trump supporters, what a shocking idea!

Straight from the Federal Criminal Code
https://www.justice.gov/usam/criminal-resource-manual-1907-title-8-usc-1324a-offenses

Consider these provisions of Title 8, U.S.C. 1324(a) Offenses:

Harboring — Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iii) makes it an offense for any person who — knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation.

Encouraging/Inducing — Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv) makes it an offense for any person who — encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law.

Conspiracy/Aiding or Abetting — Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(v) expressly makes it an offense to engage in a conspiracy to commit or aid or abet the commission of the foregoing offenses.

Your response to an article about swastika graffiti is to go off on US immigration laws? In a proud sanctuary city that’s one of the most diverse places on earth.

Why on earth are you whipping up fear and scapegoating refugees?

If you’re wondering why people connect vile, unamerican behavior with Trump, it’s probably because we have eyes and see he’s been endorsed and applauded by the KKK.

Be proud, when based on existing federal law NYC will lose 7 to 9 billon $$ each year and those that do not abide by these laws from the Mayor on down can be prosecuted for multiple federal felony charges under Title 8, U.S.C. 1324(a)

Are you saying that you agree that the policies are wrong, but will accede to them to keep this funding? Reminds me of the old joke “now we know what you are, we’re just haggling on price”.

No some here illegally, is illegal. No one has ever said all refugees are illegal.
You can be illegal in this country if you sneak in to the US from Canada or Mexico. If you fly here on a tourist visa from Poland and never go home. If you come here in shipping container from Hong Kong. If you come her from Somalia or another country on a student visa and don’t attend school.

Bless yer hearts for erasing that anti-Jewish graffitti. There are some cultures wherein there’s a reverse arms swastika ? where that symbol does NOT mean the Nazis. U.S.A. needs something like language ban, cleansing of the Spanish language. I remember when the M.T.A. fare cost 15 Cents; &, many Bus-drivers were Irish-Americans; &, N.Y.C. wasn’t minorities’ majority. I’d rather ride London Transport; esp. the double-decker omnibuses — when safe. Much of N.Y.C. has become worse than I ever could’ve imagined; dumped back in U.S.A. again. Protect Israel. Protect U.S.A.’s borders ; electrical grid; English language. Shaloha for my Jewish connection[s].
