The Upper West Side is getting a new unnamed bakery, but a local Thai restaurant is gone and a barber shop for kids is on its way out.

Lime Leaf, the Thai restaurant on 72nd Street between Columbus and Broadway that had been around for a decade, has closed. One tipster says the rent jumped, which isn’t surprising as businesses tend to sign 10-year deals. Thanks to Lynne for the tip.

TLV Resto Bar at 1416 Amsterdam Avenue (80th Street) has closed with a marshal’s notice on the door. The Mediterranean spot had replaced Hummus Kitchen. Thanks to Ed, Loraine and other tipsters.

Cozy Cuts for Kids, a barbershop for kids at 448 Amsterdam Avenue (81st-82nd), is closing at the end of the month, an employee confirmed. The current employees are expected to move to the East Side shop. Thanks to B for the tip.

Joe and the Juice is set to open at 247 Columbus Avenue between 71st and 72nd in the former home of Clarins this month, Swati says.

A new bakery is set to open in the former home of Ricky’s on Columbus Avenue between 82nd and 83rd, a worker told our tipster Terry.

A new preschool called Les Petits Sourires is opening at 120 West 97th Street in the Stonehenge Village complex, Real Estate Weekly reported. “Les Petits Sourires is set to open in January 2017. The school, which described its approach as having an ‘intimate child-central focus,’ will accept less than 25 children.”

Re: “Real Estate Weekly reported. “Les Petits Sourires … will accept less than 25 children.”

Hmmm…perhaps that paper should change its name to ‘Real Estate WEAKLY’ as its writers ain’t so gud at dat gramma stuff.

It shoulda been “FEWER than 25 children”.

Nooooooo! Lime Leaf is my favorite Thai on the UWS! So so sad about this. Anyone else have another good Thai place (that delivers) to recommend?

Opai Thai delivers, as does Thai Market, both good Thai places. I thought Lime Leaf stunk, I won’t miss it.

Land Thai on Amsterdam in the low 80s is very good and reasonably priced

Also, I find it amusing that the school will have a “child-central focus.” Ummm, as opposed to a school that doesn’t focus on children?

Yes. E.g., the old joke in the NYC Teachers’ Union is that they will care about children when they start paying union dues.

If that’s not what you meant — what *did* you mean?

Who is the customer for all these bakeries I ask you? Are they also lining up for Soul Cycle? I think this warrants an investigative report.

I though that B Cafe was moving a few blocks north into a portion of the old Saigon Cafe space.

Limeleaf is a real loss to our neighborhood. Always good food, pleasant service and reasonable prices. So sorry to see them go.

Yeah, right! Useful! We really must get some banks or Duane Reades, or maybe even (Be still my heart!) a nail parlor or two to move in.

Considering none of us want to eat sugar or wheat anymore, how many bakeries does the UWS need?

“None of use want to eat sugar or wheat” Typical UWS Liberal, if I don’t need or want something, than no one else should want or need it.

How about, there are those of us who do want to eat bread or cakes but only if they contain natural ingredients and are freshly made.

Typical fascist directing someone’s speech. I know hundreds if people who avoid wheat and sugar. You obviously have never baked anything. There isn’t a whole lot to bake without these too ingredients–certainly not enough to pay UWS rents with lots of competition.

I hate to see Lime Leaf go. Their Pad Thai was good. Also, their lettuce wraps.

I wish they’d move into another place nearby.

I’ll miss Lime Leaf. Reasonably priced, tasty, quick delivery, and great vegetarian options. Hopefully it will be replaced with something useful like a high-end clothing boutique, a skin cream place, or a T-Mobile store.

There weren’t empty store fronts here when this was an area open 24/7. Now that it’s more like a suburban town everything closes by 10pm. Bring back the nightlife and see what happens. People got to have pizza and egg sandwiches at 3am.
