LINCOLN TOWERS BUILDING GOES DRY AFTER WATER LEAK

A leak in the plumbing at 185 West End Avenue caused the city to shut off water to the building on Saturday afternoon, according to a resident and the Department of Environmental Protection. The water at the building on 69th Street, which has several hundred apartments, was still off as of Sunday morning. There was still a lot of work going on, and a big hole in the ground, Bette Kerr tells us.

“Two defective wet connections for 185 West End Ave were shut down and the building is making the necessary repairs to its connections,” said a spokesperson for the the DEP.

Update, noon: DEP says the water has been restored for all tenants.

Update 2: A tenant at 185 tells us it wasn’t actually restored until 7:30 p.m.! Sounds like a new Water-gate to me!

Just the city trying to help those residents empathize with their new 191 zone-mates…

To be perfectly clear, water was TEMPORARILY restored on Sunday at 7-7:30pm. We had no water for over 26 hours. It’s one thing to know in advance of a water shut-down but quite another to come home and find no water and warnings that it could be several days before it’s repaired. A reality check for sure. So now we wait for the PERMANENT repair. Thanks DEP or whoever it was that got it going and boo to the man with the surly bad attitude. He should know we’re watching him…..he may want to recall that we hired him, we pay him, and treating people with respect will benefit him.

Hi Mike: didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings and make a public announcement….he may know who he is and maybe this will turn it around …or not. If he reads West Side Rag. 😃 I hope so.

Hi: ya know I wonder about that. Should we tip people who are rude to us? Any thoughts? I’m not sure what to do this year.
