There are tons of great local events this month, but here are a few unique ones to put on the calendar.
- July 4: Get patriotic at the New-York Historical Society! It’s the start of the “Summer of Hamilton” at the museum and a Hamilton reenactor will be on hand. Free admission for kids under 17. More here.
- July 6: Didn’t get your fill of the Revolution yet? An 11 a.m. tour with the Central Park Conservancy will bring you back to the early days of America. The tour shows visitors the Northern Forts in the park, and includes a visit to the Blockhouse, the only remaining fortification of the many built in 1814 to defend Manhattan against the British. Costs $15 for non-members. The tour will be repeated on other dates over the summer too. More here.
- July 8: The French Embassy’s Films on the Green festival brings “April and the Extraordinary World” to Riverside Park’s Pier i. The movie stars Marion Cotillard, her cat Darwin and a secret research project. It starts at 8:30 p.m. More here.
- July 13: Summer movie night at St. Michael’s Church at 225 West 99th street shows “Bridge of Spies”, a Tom Hanks thriller about the Cold War. Starts at 7 p.m. See the full list of St. Michael’s movie night movies here.
- July 20: Lincoln Center’s Out for Doors festival begins with a bang! Patti Smith and others will be in Damrosch Park at 7:30 p.m. for a spoken-word performance. More here.
