Nonprofit organization Goddard Riverside is looking for tutors for a summer program to help children from low-income families.
Goddard Riverside Community Center’s highly-regarded Star Learning Center is seeking volunteer tutors for its 2016 Summer Program. The program runs from Tuesday, July 5th through Friday, August 19th. Tutors need only commit to a two-hour block of time once a week at the Center, which is located at 26 West 84th St. in Manhattan. Tutoring this summer will take place Mondays from 2 to 7 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 to 1 and 3 to 6 pm, Wednesdays from 10:30 to 1 and 3 to 7 pm, and Friday mornings from 9 am to 12 noon.
“We have over 80 children registered for summer tutoring, but we currently do not have enough volunteers to work with them,” said Director Deena Hellman. The program serves low-income students from across the city. Each tutor works one-to-one with a single student. High school students are welcome to volunteer, but must be in at least the 10th grade.
