West Side Rag reader Michelle Effron spotted workers placing coffee machines and refrigerators inside a kiosk on the site of a former candy and newspaper stand in Verdi Square at 72nd street and Broadway.
There’s also a table with seating outside the stand, and what appear to be metal gates sectioning it off. The workers didn’t tell her the name of the new cafe.
Two candy and news kiosks in that area closed in recent months, leading some to lament the loss.
