From Slurpees to Kimchi, the Upper West Side just got a little tastier.
The 7-Eleven at the corner of 100th street and Amsterdam Avenue has opened, Diana tells us. She says they sell “supermarket items, coffee etc.” but she did not look for the Slurpee machine, which of course i the only thing that really matters.
Europan Cafe on Columbus and 66th street has reopened after a months-long renovation. Thanks to Deborah for the photo.
Suite Stuff, the pop-up shop at 228B Columbus Avenue (70–71st), is closing in late January. “Owner Jenny Strang is investigating other spaces for an encore performance. Be sure to visit over the Martin Luther King day weekend, January 16–18 for their closing sale. They’ll have extended hours special deals, refreshments, and long goodbyes,” Jennifer tells us.
Couture Kids, a high-end kids clothing store, plans to open at 324 Columbus Ave., between West 75th and West 76th streets this spring. Couture makes designer clothes for the toddler set, including brands like Young Marc Jacobs and Young Versace. Crain’s notes that a Young Versace t-shirt costs $144 on the Couture Kids website. You better not dribble your Gerber peas on it!
We not have a photo confirming that Mokja, a new Korean restaurant is opening in the former home of Warique, on Amsterdam between 101st and 102nd street. Check out the menu for the restaurant’s Astoria location here. Kimchi stew on a cold winter’s day, mmm! Thanks to Lisa.
And there’s more… For info on three Upper West Side restaurants that just got recommended approval for liquor licenses, click here.
I look forward to Commenters reviews. I rely on Commentors opinions for Asian restaurant, pizza and bagel recommendations. Thanks in advance.
Have the owners of renovated EuroPan improved on their cleanliness? This is a much needed eatery for the Lincoln Center area but most of food was awful and the place wasn’t kept clean. Apparently that was the case even out of sight as the Health Dept closed it down.
Do I risk eating there now?
Re: “Do I risk eating there now?”
WHY NOT! This reader and spouse were badly disappointed with Europan’s prolonged closure.
It had always been our favorite outdoor-dining spot: reasonable prices, good variety of food, friendly wait-staff, AND a ringside-seat at the never-ending pedestrian parade that makes the Lincoln Center area so vibrant!
Have eaten there many years and NEVER had a problem with the food!
Welcome back, Europan!
It was a dump.
I went to Mokja tonight and the kimchi stew was fantastic. Spicy and nourishing and reminiscent of the (excellent) kimchi ramen at Jin Ramen.
Need to try some dishes before rendering a verdict, but it seemed promising for a spot that just opened.
I am so excited for a real Korean restaurant on the UWS! Maybe they’ll deliver…
Couture children’s clothing around the block from Z’Baby… Maybe Columbus and 72st will be the next froyo or salad alley but for overpriced children’s clothing!
Rich kids wear couture. We got rich kids here.
Places with pictures of there fiod usually suck
Places with pictures of their food usually suck
Couture clothing for toddlers???? What a waste of money considering they’re going to grow out of them as soon as you put these clothes on them! This is one of many examples how the UWS has become a frivolous area for the rich!
