Arte Around the Corner before it closed late last year.
Birdbath is opening its third location on the Upper West Side, in the former home of Arte Around the Corner, the cafe on Columbus Avenue between 72nd and 73rd streets. Birdbath is an eco-friendly cafe chain owned by City Bakery. It has other locations at 80th and Broadway and at 85th and Columbus.
Along with coffee drinks, baked goods, sandwiches, salads and pizzas, this location is also seeking to serve liquor — the first Birdbath to do so. If the company gets its license from the State Liquor Authority, it plans to serve wine, beer and cider.
They’re also looking for a store manager, and the person needs to have that special charm: “we’re old school: we want to charm our customers in the best, most sincere way possible.” See the full listing here.
Thanks to Terry and ELJ for the tips.
Pro tip: Go around an hour before they close and they’ll start giving you stuff on the house. I love City Bakery/Birdbath.
Two words: Pretzel Croissant.
I’m impressed that with the name “Birdbath” they are doing so well. Don’t judge a cafe by its name, I guess!
