CAFE CON LECHE CLOSING AFTER 25 YEARS

cafe con leche

Cuban restaurant Cafe Con Leche is closing its location at 424 Amsterdam Avenue (between 80th and 81st), blaming a high rent increase. It will reopen a new location at 2026 2nd Avenue, between 104th and 105th streets.

Cafe Con Leche closed its other location 15 blocks uptown three years ago.

The restaurant served all sorts of Cuban specialties, along with Dominican and Puerto Rican dishes like Mofongo. There are a diminishing number of places to get Cuban food in the neighborhood, although lots of people like La Caridad at 78th and Broadway.

Thanks to Gavan for the photo.
