Police arrested Allen Taylor, who they say is “undomiciled,” for attempted rape, burglary and sexual abuse in connection with an attack this week on a Columbia student on 113th street.

Police say the attack occurred inside the vestibule to the student’s building around 930 on Wednesday, according to ABC News:

“Police say the 27-year-old student was returning home from jogging. The suspect, later caught on surveillance video, was holding the front door to her Morningside Heights apartment building.

Inside the vestibule, he grabbed her and threw her to the ground. She struggled and screamed, so he took off running.”

Wondering why the capture of a homeless rapist is less worthy of comment than a post about a pumpkin or Dalai Lama? Is it just too politically incorrect? Who was this guy and what was he doing on UWS at Columbia housing? Did he have any affiliation with shelters or a drugs treatment center like the one on 108th off RSD?
Doesn’t anyone care that a young student was almost raped or would you rather just continue to rail on about the demise of the Allman Brothers???

UWS Mom you are so correct.

I have made my opinion known on this site about our UWS being a welcoming haven for vagrants – and sometimes this is this result.

Note: The word “Homeless” is so politicized, I do not use it. After all how can you say anything negative about someone without a home. Just like how can you be against life itself (pro life) or against the right to choose (pro choice).

Personally I do not understand it, the vitriol about the Allman brothers fans, double wide strollers , and of course the most evil next to Landlords: the bikers.

But, gangs, muggers , rapists, drug dealers, panhandlers get a pass.

Webot, once again I agree with your thinking. And I’m also bewildered by the topics that gain traction among our neighbors. A homeless vagrant near-miss rape garners four comments yet post a new grocery opening and everyone comes out of the woodwork.

Very odd.
