RARE 3-BEDROOM UP FOR SALE IN HISTORIC POMANDER WALK

Imagine waking up in an English-style village instead of the poop-strewn block where you live now. That dream could be a reality if you have the $1.995 million that the owners of a 3-bedroom apartment in Pomander Walk are seeking.

Pomander Walk, an absolutely adorable village of two-story houses around its own gated courtyard between 94th and 95th street, was built in 1921 by Irish immigrant Thomas Healy.

It’s rare that a 3-bedroom goes on the market at Pomander Village. The two-bedrooms are cozy, but can seem a little cramped for a family.

“The houses are small, each floor approximately 700 square feet and have been described in real-estate speak as diminutive, dainty, intimate and miniature,” Marjorie Cohen wrote a few years ago for West Side Rag.

Two studios and two one-bedrooms are also on sale, according to Streeteasy.

Read all about the village’s history in the piece we published here and check out the listing here. There’s an Open House this Sunday, November 2.

If you buy it, invite us over! I’ll totally tend your English roses for you or whatever.

Does anybody remember a band in the 1980s called “Joey Miserable and the Worms”? They played at The Nightingale on East 12th Street and had a song called “Pooper Scooper.” Came out around the time of the new law.

Thanks for the tip, Howard! Here’s a trip back to the 1985 via You Tube: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=pooper+scooper+joey+miserable+and+the+worms&FORM=HDRSC3#view=detail&mid=6247E28835A50927CE306247E28835A50927CE30

Hello Barbara, the asking price $1.995M. Maintenance is $2250 a month. It’s a co-op. I’m a real estate agent and if you need representation, let me know and we can connect and discuss. I suspect this one will go fast…

Have actually spent time in this lovely home. It’s a 3-story house with an attic. ☺

No security bars on their windows and doors? The folks at Pomander Walk are pretty trusting considering the nabe they live in.

Not sure I’d call it a 3BR – the third “bedroom” is only 8×8.
