A 30-year-old man was arrested for sexually abusing a 2-year-old girl in a bathroom stall in Riverside Park on Tuesday afternoon around 5:14 p.m., an NYPD spokesman told us.
Jason Carroll was charged with criminal sex act, sexual abuse and child endangerment.
The Daily News reported that the man may have known the child’s mother. The newspaper also says the atack occured around 75th street in the park, a fact that the spokesman could not confirm with us. “A Good Samaritan in the upper West Side park became aware of the abuse and alerted a Parks Department employee, who then called the cops, police said.”
A Walk in the Park added that the assault occurred “in the bathroom at Neufeld Playground at Riverside Park near West 75th Street. A good Samaritan spotted him abusing the 2-year-old girl, and alerted a Parks Department employee, who called the police. Carroll was watching the child for a few minutes. During that time he inappropriately touched the girl and exposed himself, according to a police source.”
