TWO ART EXHIBITS HOLDING SPECIAL EVENTS THURSDAY

There will be special receptions for two local art exhibits on Thursday night.

The Goddard-Riverside Community Center, a social service organization, now has an art gallery on Columbus between 91st and 92nd called the Bernie Wohl Center and it’s hosting a special event Thursday night to meet the artists in its first exhibit from 5:30 to 8. The Urban Dreamz exhibit features work from Crespo, Ka-Son Reeves, and Karen Weintraub. There will be music and refreshments and the art is for sale. They tell us: “The Bernie Wohl Center is a new venue on the Upper West Side where free arts programs are offered to enrich the Upper West Side community, to engage in meaningful discussions, and to give everyone an opportunity to see and experience performing and creative art.  This is our first art installation!” The work is on display through June 21. Learn more here.

25 CPW, an art gallery in the ground floor of The Century on Central Park West between 62nd and 63rd streets, is holding an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday for “Eyes of the World,” a photo exhibit about the clothes factory collapse in Bangladesh, as well as exhibits on domestic violence and Amanda Berg’s “Keg Stand Queens.” Berg will also be speaking at the gallery at 4. RSVP to sarahbeth@alexiafoundation.org or 718-753-7607. More here.
