Hi Upper West Siders. We’re looking for people interested in writing, taking pictures, or otherwise helping out with the Rag. If you’re interested, or just want to have a cup of coffee and chat about the neighborhood, we’ll be at Aroma coffee at 161 West 72nd street (just East of Broadway) at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. And yes, West Side Rag will buy the coffee.
Please let us know if you’re interested in coming by emailing “info at westsiderag dot com”.

I wish I could go and meet you all! I had to move to LA because of my husbands work… But we have our apartment in UWS, and gi as often as we can. I love reading the West Side Rag, it makes me feel not so far from home.

Hi Regina, I am from LA and live here 3 months a year (Pacific Palisades where I grew up) to take care of and hang out with my father of 88. I completely get the “feeling far from home” as in many ways NYC, both the UES and UWS , are my homes and I miss dance, friends, and just the energy of the city.
Feel free to leave me a message on Victorian Chick FACEBOOK (page for the blog). Most of my friends are in the city now, or Jersey, CT. I adore food and also do Yelp (both NYC and LA (and SB)) restaurants so if you ever need food or drink or happy hour recommendations in WLA let me know!

Why so early on a Sunday, and have you heard of Sunday morning church services????
Apologies. We’ll have another meetup soon.
Thanks for the invite, Avi. Would love to take you up on it, meet you and get caffeinated, but will be elsewhere at the time.
And, no, not in church.
Next time!
Would love to contribute — had a 25-yr journalism career, sat on CB7, admire what you’re doing — but I go to a teaching at the Community Meditation Center (Columbus at 88th) every Sunday at 10:30. You might want to switch the time…
Apologies Molly. I realize some people can’t make it and we’ll have another meetup soon.
Its A little late in the day for me, I work Nights. I love your publication, ALthough some member of my family has lived here since the mid eighties, I have only been here full time since October. I would love to learn how you operate. I imagine I might have some skills that could be bought to your assistance. I will be bone tired and there. You were my primary source of comfort before I made the Big Move. You still are a great joy and i would like to meet all of you.
Thanks, but some of us go to church on Sunday mornings. Regrets.

Apologies. We’ll have another meetup in the next few weeks.
Sorry to miss the chance to meet up in person! Looking forward to your next one, hopefully it will work for me.
My friend on the UWS sent me this. I write for the Patch in West Los Angeles (Pacific Palisades, Brentwood) and sometimes Studio City but live on the Upper East Side 3 months a year, during which I am on the UWS dancing at Luigi (68th between CPW and Columbus).
This last trip I started to dance at Steps on 74th and Broadway, which I plan to continue so I spend almost half my time in the city on the UWS.
I’m in LA right now, having returned from 3 weeks in the city this past Saturday. I will be back for 2 to 3 weeks in mid-May as I will be teaching English in Newark of all places!
I am happy to learn about West Side Rag and will read it when I am missing all my friends and activities in NYC!
Sorry to hear the meeting is an inconvenience for many but some responses are short and without feeling. I thought about contributing yet i feel the responses giving here to think why bother with short responses contradict with with any warm feeling.
No I will not be in church Sunday.
I know this event has already passed, but I think this needs to be mentioned…
You wanna go to church on Sunday morning that is entirely your prerogative, nobody is denying you that right or judging you for it. But there is a world outside of your faith that several people live in (25% of the US to be exact, non-christians) and I know this is none of my business but your absolutely single-minded attitude that nobody should dare hold any event on your day of worship is arrogant to the point of being insulting. You made this about religion by the way, not me. I happen to know the person who runs this blog and your subtly concealed insinuation that the West Side Rag is somehow choosing to leave people out bugs me because you seem incapable of accepting that someone might do something on a Sunday morning that interferes with your rituals and the person who runs this blog couldn’t be a more caring and open-hearted person and I quite frankly don’t like the implied accusations here. Relax, The Rag has been very clear about holding another event sometime soon, and don’t take it personally every time someone doesn’t believe what you do.
NOTE: I AM IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH THE WEST SIDE RAG. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED IN THIS POST ARE MY OWN AND DO NOT IN ANY WAY REPRESENT THOSE OF THE WEST SIDE RAG OR ITS CREATORS, WRITERS, or CONTRIBUTORS.
Hope I can make the next meet up. I was telling my 40 year old son a story and he said, “where did you read that the WSR”. lol I am always telling him about something I read about the neighborhood. His family has recently returned to live on the UWS.
Liked the interview about Soul Cycle.
