Kerry Butler and friends are hosting an event to benefit PS 84 on March 3. Check it out.

News:
Ed Koch is dead of congestive heart failure. Here’s his Times obit, a photo of his tombstone, and some of his most memorable one-liners. And here’s what he said about living in the suburbs in an interview with Playboy: “Have you ever lived in the suburbs? … It’s sterile. It’s nothing. It’s wasting your life, and people do not wish to waste their lives once they’ve seen New York! … This rural American thing — I’m telling you, it’s a joke.”

“The Upper West Side became liveable again” under Koch, writes Michael Tomasky. Do you agree?

The owners of a “rock and roll penthouse” at the Ariel East are looking to double their initial investment, asking $12.5 million. (Curbed)

A first look at how the mayoral candidates feel about education. They still have plenty of questions to answer, but this is a helpful survey. (Epoch Times)

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate. I must live in a different universe. I remember the Koch administration as one of the most corrupt in NYC history.
