TWO UPCOMING FUNDRAISERS: ‘SHAKESPEARE IN A BAR’ AND PETER YARROW

Nicholas Cimato, the general manager and talent booker for The Underground on 107th Street, was in a car accident on Christmas Day that killed his brother and left him in critical condition. The Hudson Warehouse theater group and The Underground are holding a fundraiser for him on Sunday starting at 2 p.m. at The Underground, asking people to donate $10 each to help pay his medical care.

Cimato and his brother were hit by a wrong-way driver in Connecticut.

As part of the fundraiser, The Hudson Warehouse group will put on Shakespeare’s Othello as part of its “Shakespeare in a Bar” series, and there will be music.

“Nicholas Cimato has been a great friend to The Warehouse,” says Hudson Warehouse Producing Artistic Director Nicholas Martin-Smith.  “Our hearts go out to him and his family.  We felt we had to do something to show our concern and help the family cover these enormous expenses.  We hope to gather a large crowd for music and Shakespeare.”

“Donations for Mr. Cimato can be sent to Hudson Warehouse, Planetarium Station, P.O. Box 205, New York, NY, 10024.  Please make checks out to “Hudson Warehouse.”  All donations received through January 31, 2013 will go towards Nicholas Cimato.”

A separate fundraiser for another organization is scheduled for Thursday night.  Peter Yarrow of Peter Paul and Mary will be holding a special fundraiser on Thursday for LILY (Lifeforce in Later Years), an organization that helps needy seniors live comfortably in their homes as they age (we wrote about LILY here). To get tickets (we hear there are still 5 available) or donate, click here.

Correction: we originally had the wrong date for the Nicholas Cimato fundraiser. Apologies.

Planetarium Station is not 10025, it is 10024. Not sure which end is incorrect, but trying to help…
