A 30-year-old woman was stabbed this morning on Central Park’s Great Hill around 103rd Street shortly before 11 a.m., and a four-year-old child sustained a thumb injury. The woman’s common law husband is in custody, according to media reports.
The man appears to have slashed his wrists after stabbing the woman and injuring the child, NY1 and A Walk in the Park blog are reporting. The boy and the woman were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening.
“The police took the child away,” wrote Geoffrey Croft,who runs A Walk In the Park and serves as a parks advocate. A witness told Croft that the child had blood on his arms. “The man was apprehended by police. Officers sustained minor injuries while subduing the assailant.”
Three NYPD officers sustained minor injuries, ABC reported.
