GRATEFUL TOY STORE OWNERS START DRIVE FOR STATEN ISLAND KIDS

The community has rallied to help the owners of the Stationery & Toy store on 72nd Street off of Columbus, whose home and warehouses on Staten Island were wrecked by Hurricane Sandy. Since we wrote about how the owners needed help, items have been flying off the shelves, owners, Larry and Donna, told us.

Larry told us: “Upper West Siders have just been extraordinary.”

Now the owners and their supporters want to help out kids on Staten Island, many of whom still don’t live in their homes because of the flooding and damage.

They’ve started a toy drive to get 500 gifts for kids to open on Dec. 13 at a holiday party at the St. George Theater on Staten Island. You can buy the gifts at the toy store, or donate money and the owners will pick out gifts for you.
