Just in time for winter: frozen yogurt!
Here are two spots that either just opened or are close to opening.
Yapple: A new froyo spot just opened on Broadway between 70th and 71st Streets, taking over half of the spot that used to house Bacchus Wines (the other half is now dessert shop Chocobolo). Yapple, based in Pennsylvania, is a self-serve spot like 16 Handles. The website is completely befuddling, but if you’re interested take a look. Sayle Milne, who took the picture above, says this about the store: “I have been there three times and each time wonderful. It is in the vein of a 16 Handles….you pick your cup, fill it with yogurt./toppings, and then weigh it for cost. They have the normal flavors but then come really cool ones like “salted caramel” + others…Not the crowds of 16 Handles or elsewhere….pretty quiet…like no one has discovered it.”
Tasti-D-Lite: On a net basis, we’re not actually adding any new Tasti D-Lites. One Tasti D location recently closed ay 2345 Broadway between 85th and 86th. But a new Tasti-D-lite is close to opening on Amsterdam between 85th and 86th, says our tipster Jeff. So, walk one block and you can still get your fix.
I could have sworn someone told us about a third new ice cream spot, but have since forgotten…

“iCrave” is the 3rd new self-serve yogurt shop opening. Broadway & 94th. Looks like it should be opening soon.
