News:
Central Park bike riders are regularly exceeding the park’s 25 mph speed limit which isn’t regularly being enforced. Since the year began, there have been 65 accidents involving bicycles in Central Park. Cyclists are also required to obey traffic signals, which they often don’t. Mount Sinai pediatric doctors say they have been seeing an increase in crashes. (NY Daily News)
A special Google tricycle just finished traveling along the paths of Central Park in anticipation of allowing people to tour the entire park online. “It has a camera setup on the back so that when the rider is going down pedestrian paths and other places where our Street View cars can’t go, they can get imagery of beautiful places like Central Park to show to our users around the world. There is GPS on it so it knows where it is so that when you look at it on a map, things are placed in the right position,” says Jesse Friedman of Google Maps. (NY1)

SL Green and Stonehenge partners entered a lease for the building at 1080 Amsterdam Avenue (113th) that was formerly used to house St. Luke’s hospital staff. They’re going to turn it into a luxury residence. (Marketwatch)
It’s still unclear when exactly the New York bike-sharing program will start, and now the operator is facing major delays in Chicago. (NY Times)
The Daily News article was ridiculous. Bike riders do not “regularly exceed” the 25 mph speed limit. That’s absurd. Yes, some people do and can, but “regularly”? Give me a break. The enforcement in the park needs to be for the cars that speed. Why do we even give the Daily News the satisfaction of re-posting their horrible writing?
