A tipster tells us that the NYPD’s bomb squad taped off an area in Central Park just West of the Great Lawn this afternoon and has been telling people to avoid the immediate area. An officer yelled “Bomb Squad” at him and told him to walk away from the Bridle Path, he said.
The president is in town today for a fundraiser, so officials may be on particularly high alert.
The NYPD communications office had no information for us about what’s going on, but we’ll update if we learn more. A Central Park official also didn’t have info.
