JEWELRY STORE OPENING ON COLUMBUS, NEW CAFE REPLACES PECAN ON AMSTERDAM

KTCollection, a handmade jewelry business started by designer Katie Thompson, will  open its first New York store in September in the space at the corner of 75th and Columbus recently vacated by a Verizon dealer (at right). KTCollection has sold items at holiday fairs and other events in the past — the company’s gold starfish cuff was featured in our holiday gift guide last year.

That space held Joe’s Candy Store for about three decades.

In other opening news, Pecan Cafe on 78th and Amsterdam quite suddenly became Caffe Noi about a week ago. Pecan Cafe had just opened a few months ago, replacing Gavin Printing & Stationary.

Noi is an Upper East Side cafe that gets good reviews on that side of the park. “Caffe Noi is one of the best espresso shops on the Upper East Side,” says one yelper.

As of Sunday, they weren’t accepting credit cards, said our tipster Tara Dowd.

Thanks to Brad and Tara for the tips.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate. I can vouch for Noi. Used to be my regular coffee stop when I lived on the UES.
