June 12, 2012 Weather: Rain, High of 73 Degrees.

News:
The Jewish population in New York is growing and shifting, according to new stats: “Over the last decade wealthy, Ivy League graduates like those on the Upper West Side have increasingly lost population share relative to Orthodox groups, like the Hasidic population in Brooklyn, where college degrees are rare and poverty rates have reached 43 percent.” (NY Times)

The Upper West Side would be “an ideal spot” for a Museum of Food and Drink, a lawyer for the project told the Upper West Side Community Board last week. People would get to eat and drink at the museum, but beyond that details are still a little sketchy. (DNAinfo)

The city is auctioning off several properties later this month, including a Lincoln Towers apartment for $930,000 minimum. (Malcolm tends to have auction news before anyone else, by the way). (Malcolm Carter)

A commenter tells us that the lights have finally been turned off during the day in Riverside Park. “The Riverside Park lights are off!!!!! All hail Gale Brewer and West Side Rag and NY Press!!.” We take none of the credit, but thanks.
