Summer movies are like a 20-ounce sugary shot of childhood nostalgia (get it now before the mayor bans it!). This summer, the Film Society of Lincoln Center is diving deep into your cerebral cortex down down down to the place where those sweet memories exist.
The Film Society starts a new Friday midnight movie series tonight with Star Wars Uncut, a fan homage to the original: “For this crowdsourced, shot-by-shot fan-film remake of George Lucas’ Episode IV – A New Hope, 473 volunteers reshot or animated their assigned 15-second sections as they saw fit. The result is one of the Internet’s true cinematic wonders,” the Film Society says. Tickets are $13.
The series continues through August with the following movies:
June 1 Star Wars Uncut
June 8 The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
June 15 Logan’s Run
June 22 Richard Pryor: Live in Concert
June 29 Lifeforce
July 6 Lost Highway
July 13 The Evil Dead
July 20 Evil Dead II
July 27 Fritz the Cat
August 3 The House by the Cemetery
August 10 Slither
August 17 The Apple
August 24 Vampire’s Kiss
August 31 The Entity
