May 29, 2012 Weather: Partly Cloudy, High of 88 Degrees.

Notices:
Central Park is hosting a 6k run on Thursday night to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s six decades of queen-ship.

We have a list of events up for Tuesday (including the Maurice Sendak tribute) and will add the rest of the week’s events shortly.

News:
Upper West Side parents want to establish a dual-language program (Russian-English) to teach the growing number of Russian people in the neighborhood. (DNAinfo)

A townhouse at 137 West 74th Street with seven restored fireplaces and its own elevator sold for $14.15 million, a new record for a townhouse that is not on Central Park. It’s another one of those buildings that used to house 10 families, but will now house one exceptionally rich family (this has become a trend on the Upper West Side). (The Real Deal)

The Cart in the Park, near the Central Park Zoo offers healthy food options. “Take the green burger ($7), featuring grass-fed beef, arugula, salsa verde and an avocado mash in place of the mayonnaise.” (Wall Street Journal, subscription)

A gas main broke on Friday morning near Jewish Home Lifecare on 106th. No one was apparently injured. (DNAinfo)

Re: “A gas main broke on Friday morning near Jewish Home Lifecare on 106th. No one was apparently injured. ”

But afterward many residents of Jewish Home Lifecare reported feeling exceptionally “gassy.”
