Police are looking for a man they say tried to rape a woman running in Riverside Park at about 6 p.m. Friday night. The 24-year-old woman saw the man approaching from behind with his genitals exposed as she ran on a dirt path between 122nd and 125th Streets. He grabbed her by the neck and started choking her, and threw her to the ground, Gothamist reported.
But luckily another person spotted them and flagged down a motorist to help. Both called 911 and then started running toward the victim and attacker, the Post reported. The suspect ran away, and the woman was treated for minor injuries.
The suspect (depicted above) is described as a Hispanic male, 35-40 years old, 5’9″ and 180 lbs.
If you know anything about the case, call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
So Sad that people can not run in peace ! I used to run in Riverside Park, but found another one I feel is safer. I hope they find this criminal !!!
A man exposed himself to me in Riverside Park a couple of weeks ago, so grateful he left it at that. Don’t think it was the same person, he didn’t look nearly as chipper as this police sketch, but I wonder….
