A man was hit by a northbound C train at the 96th Street station this morning at around 8:08 a.m., but was not expected to die, the NYPD just told us. No criminality is suspected in the incident, but it’s otherwise still under investigation.
“The train operator actually saw the person on the tracks but couldn’t stop in time,” an MTA spokesman told Gothamist. The man was 46.
The A, B, C, D trains were suspended between 59th and 125th Street, but were back up and running shortly after 10 a.m.
This is the fourth time a person has been hit by a train on the Upper West Side since Feb. 29. The first three incidents occurred on the Broadway (1, 2, 3) line at 72nd Street, including two people who were hit on the same day.
