Notices:
We’re a little behind in completing this week’s calendar, but should have it up by the end of the day.
Just got this from Jason Haber at Rubicon Property, which is opening a new storefront in the old Maxilla & Mandible spot on 81st and Columbus: “Outside our soon-to-be-opened store at 451 Columbus Avenue, (between 81st/82nd), we are creating a Clean Water Catwalk. Starting at noon on Thursday, people will be lined up to carry 2 filled Jerry Cans — the same cans used by women and children in Africa to carry clean water into their communities. The walk ends when the participant “Crosses the Rubicon” and enters our store. At that point our company will make a $1 donation for their effort to our charity: water campaign…A free cocktail reception begins at 6pm.”
News:
Another man was hit by a train at the 72nd Street and Broadway subway station, after two people were hit at the same station on Feb. 29. Michael Silverman, a 63-year-old who reportedly had a history of mental illness and drug abuse, fell on the tracks at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday and died. (NY Post)
The redistricting plan approved by Governor Cuomo created an insane state Senate district that encompasses part of the Upper West Side (the West 70’s), East Harlem, the South Bronx and Roosevelt Island. (Daily News)
The Magnet School for Technology & Communication on West 105th Street got a grant that will hopefully help it attract more students. (DNAinfo)
