James Harmon, the Upper West Side landlord whose case to end NYC rent regulations is being considered by the Supreme Court, has a rent-stabilized tenant paying $1,000 a month with a home in Southampton. “The Harmons effectively have been financing the approximately $1,500 monthly mortgage payments on the Long Island home of one of their rent stabilized tenants.” The city and state’s responses to the lawsuit were due yesterday.
