COLLEGE STUDENT IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER HIT & RUN AT 106TH STREET AND BROADWAY

A 20-year-old Columbia student was hit by a Mercedes-Benz sedan at 106th Street and Broadway early Sunday morning, and the car sped away without stopping. The young man had just gotten out of a cab around 1:20 a.m. and began walking north to cross the street when he was hit by the Mercedes, the Columbia Spectator reported. The Mercedes had a green light, the NYPD told the Spectator. The student was taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital and was listed in critical condition.

Update: The student has been identified as Peyton Bell, a junior and a popular player on the rugby team, by the New York Post.

It’s the same intersection where singer Daniela D’Ercole was hit by a car and killed a few weeks ago.
