October 18, 2011 Weather: Mostly Cloudy, High of 67 Degrees.

News:
Much like the hole in a bagel, a hole was torn into the Upper West Side when H&H Bagels was kicked out of its spot at 80th Street and Broadway because of failure to pay rent. Well, Leslie Albrecht of DNAinfo got word of an exciting new development about the vacant space: wipe your tears Upper West Siders, because a new bagel store may be moving into the spot! No, not a bank, not a drug store — a real live bagel store! Queens-based Davidovich Bagels is in talks with the landlord Friedland Properties about opening up there. We can only pray that the deal goes through. (DNAinfo)

One Upper West Sider, Bob Heller, is standing outside the 72nd street subway station in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street. He looks lonely. Maybe he can join Occupy Lincoln Center tonight. (LA Times)

Richard Pena, the programming director of the Film Society of Lincoln Center, is stepping down after 25 years. (NY Times)
