September 30, 2011 Weather: Partly Cloudy, High of 76 Degrees

Notices:
The 49th annual New York Film Festival starts today, with a new film from director Roman Polanski called Carnage, starring Jodie Foster. Here’s the entire schedule.

The big Black Eyed Peas concert in Central Park starts tonight at 7. The Central Park Drives are closed to vehicles from 72nd to 86th Streets. See more events on our calendar.

News:
The Time Warner company is considering moving out of the Time Warner Center, possibly moving to the World Trade Center or a building on the far west side farther downtown. The company set up its headquarters in the new building in 2004. If they move, what are we supposed to call the building? (Wall Street Journal)

A new building for John Jay College on 59th Street, scheduled to open this year, and one for the Abraham Joshua Heschel School on 61st, slated for 2013, are remarkably similar massive glass structures.  (Architizer via Curbed)

Please limit comments to 150 words and keep them civil and relevant to the article at hand. Comments are closed after six days. Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
