The weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend in the neighborhood (High of 88 degrees and sunny both days). And a heat wave is on its away next week, so enjoy it while you can!

If you do one thing outside this weekend…

Check out a free multicultural concert in Riverside Park Saturday night at 7 p.m. Efendi, headed by Scott Wilson playing his unique “Baglama Hydra“—a combination oud, saz, and bouzouki—perform music from Turkey, Armenia, Israel, and Greece. It’s on the lawn just north of the 96th Street tennis courts.

If you do one thing inside this weekend…

Watch the U.S. women take on the Japanese team in the World Cup! One more chance to watch soccer before you forget about it for the next two or three years. On ESPN at 2:45 p.m. Sunday.

For more great local events, check out our weekly calendar. And if you’re hungry and don’t mind lines, go to the 15th anniversary celebration at Magnolia Bakery on 69th Street and Columbus!

If you’re traveling…

Check traffic info at traffic.com for delays. As for the subway, the 2 and 3 are running local from Chambers to 96th Street. For more, check mta.info.

Please limit comments to 150 words and keep them civil and relevant to the article at hand. Comments are closed after six days. Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
