I had a chat with a construction worker yesterday and found out that the spot on the corner of 69th and Columbus vacated quite suddenly by beauty shop Lancome in May will be filled by Theory, the boutique clothing store that started in the Meatpacking district. Theory, known for its “simple, expertly-cut blazers and trousers,” actually has another location at 230 Columbus (at 71st Street).

Theory’s decision to move to 69th will make room for Helmut Lang (owned by the same corporation as Theory) to move into Theory’s 71st Street location, Racked just confirmed. It will be Helmut Lang’s first Upper West Side store. The new stores should open within the next two months.
