Proposed zoning rules backed by Community Board Chairman Mel Wymore and City Councilwoman Gale Brewer could limit the amount of storefront space that banks take up on Broadway, Amsterdam and Columbus. (In one 26-block stretch of Broadway, there are now 26 banks!) The banks could still open on those blocks, but they would have to use less space, and possibly move operations to the second floor.
