The opera singer Marcella Caprario who slapped Dr. Catherine London at Trader Joe’s on 72nd Street was found not guilty in criminal court yesterday. Caprario had gotten into an argument with London after London’s son blocked her husband’s way to the vegan pad thai. Somehow, a judge decided that the slap was justified, or ast least that the prosecutors couldn’t prove she had intended to harm London. Anyway, Caprario, who is from Inwood, says she still goes to Trader Joe’s every week. So if you see her by the frozen foods, maybe give her a little space. (NY Post)
An 82-year-old man who was mugged on West 89th Street now looks likely to die from his injuries. The victim, Gerald Abramovitz, is an industrial designer whose work is part of MoMa’s permanent collection. He was mugged on May 25 in the vestibule of a building he was visiting, and left bleeding on the floor. Now they’ve taken him off life support. It’s worth reading Leslie Albrecht’s piece. (DNAinfo)
